How we document & verify listings

Every listing is labelled Listed (public record), School-confirmed, or Verified for the current school year, with a last-checked date. Tuition and funding figures always show their school year and source. A listing is not an endorsement — visit, ask for references, check your state’s requirements.

The spine of the directory comes from public records: the NCES Private School Survey, state education department lists, ESA program public provider lists, and network and association locators — used for facts and links, never copied descriptions. The school’s own published pages are the source of truth for tuition, schedules, and funding claims.

Listings carry one of three trust states. "Listed (public record)" means the facts come from an official or public-record source. "School-confirmed" means the school claimed the listing or confirmed the facts itself. "Verified for [school year]" means school-confirmed plus a second source — a program provider list, a network locator, or a current-year tuition page. Only Verified listings carry the funding-accepted filter badge.

Everything is re-verified twice a year, timed to enrolment cycles (November–January and May–July), with monthly checks for closed websites, disconnected phones, and closure notices. Schools close and move in this sector more often than in traditional education; stale is treated as a defect, not a backlog item.

The rules that never bend

Disclaimer

Tuition, schedules, and education savings account (ESA) program acceptance change yearly and are shown with their source and verification date. School-reported funding acceptance is not an official program record — confirm in your official program account (Step Up / ClassWallet / Odyssey) before enrolling.
